BLIND SYNC

VVITU ACM Student Chapter successfully organised an innovative technical event, Blind Sync, as part of the annual techno-fest SPARDHA 2K25. The competition, designed entirely by the chapter, combined debugging expertise, logical thinking, and effective communication. It drew a remarkable response, with more than 545 participants from various institutions competing in pairs.
The Team Size: 2
Date & Time: 16 September 2025 – 10:00 AM

Blind Sync comprised three well-structured rounds, each evaluating a distinct skill set.

Round 1 – Spot the Bug
The opening round tested the participants’ ability to spot and correct errors in code. Two short snippets were displayed one after the other through a
PowerPoint presentation. Teams were allowed three to four minutes to study each program while the slide remained visible.
After the slide was closed, participants wrote their answers, mentioning the line number containing the error and, for higher marks, rewriting the corrected line. Scores were awarded based on accuracy, clarity, and presentation. Teams with the best scores advanced to the next level.

Round 2 – Blind Grid Sync
The second round added a lively test of trust and coordination. The top 100 teams from Round 1 were selected. Within each team, one participant was blindfolded and handed a grid sheet containing the numbers 1 to 9 placed randomly. The other member received a set of multiple-choice questions where each answer corresponded to a number on the grid.
The sighted participant had to read the questions, identify the correct answers, and give precise instructions so that their blindfolded partner could find and mark the right number. This round demanded clear communication, accuracy, and steady teamwork. The 40 top-performing teams were shortlisted for the final round.

Round 3 – Blind Coding Challenge

The final round was designed to combine programming skills with precise teamwork. The 40 teams shortlisted from Round 2 were given access to a custom website developed by the organisers, which presented a series of coding tasks inside an integrated editor.

                                                                                               blind6

Within each team, one member was blindfolded and seated at a system to write the code. The other teammate viewed the problems on the website, analysed them, and explained the solution step-by-step so the blindfolded participant could enter the code accurately.
