LE' RED MASK

The VVITU Guntur ACM Student Chapter organized an offline technical event titled Le’ Red Mask on Friday, October 17th, 2025, from 02:15 PM to 03:45 PM in Labs N-516 and N-505. The event received enthusiastic participation from students who showcased their logical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills. Conducted in a solo participation format, the competition encouraged individuals to perform independently and apply their technical knowledge effectively.

Inspired by Netflix’s Money Heist, Le’ Red Mask – The Digital Heist immersed participants in a world where logic, strategy, and quick thinking reigned supreme. Instead of stealing gold, they stole data uncovering hidden clues and decoding secret information buried within a website. The atmosphere was charged with tension and excitement as players raced against time to complete their digital mission. Each round sharpened their skills in problem-solving, web exploration, and decoding. The event perfectly blended suspense, creativity, and technical learning, capturing the true spirit of La Casa de Papel.

Round 1: “The Recruitment” – The Professor’s Test
crew moved on to the next stage. The event began with an introductory round designed to select the most observant and detail-oriented recruits. Participants were provided with a web interface containing multiple visible and hidden clues. Using basic observation and inspection tools, they had to identify anomalies or encoded hints hidden within the site. This round tested their logical reasoning and attention to detail, setting the foundation for the digital heist ahead. Only those who proved worthy of joining The Professor’s crew moved on to the next stage.

Round 2: “The Break-In” – Cracking the Code
In the second round, participants stepped into the role of cyber experts attempting to breach the system’s defenses. Hidden messages, HTML tags, and encrypted strings were embedded in the source code of webpages. Players had to decode these using basic coding logic, ASCII conversions, and cryptography-inspired clues. This round emphasized quick thinking and technical awareness, where one wrong interpretation could mean getting caught by the digital police.
Round 3: “The Vault” – Decode and Retrieve
Having broken in, participants now faced the toughest challenge finding the digital vault and retrieving the hidden data. This round combined logical puzzles and file tracing with an element of storytelling. Participants had to follow a sequence of hints connecting multiple web pages, each leading closer to the final vault. It tested their pattern recognition, reasoning ability, and persistence. The difficulty level increased significantly, demanding both mental agility and strategic thinking.

Round 4: Data Packet Extraction Challenge
Participants must analyze multiple data packets with varying sizes and values to select the optimal combination within a 20 TB limit. The goal is to maximize total extractable value by applying logical and mathematical reasoning. This round tests optimization, analytical thinking, and strategic planning.
Round 5: “The Getaway” – The Final Heist 

The final round was a race against time, where participants had to put together all the clues collected from previous rounds to solve the ultimate puzzle. The goal was to decrypt a final message or uncover a key file representing the digital loot. Speed, accuracy, and presence of mind played a crucial role here, as even the smallest mistake could cost victory.
